Policy Templates
Every public library board in Alberta must have appropriate policies in place. Policies provide the backbone for library service and guide the operating procedures. Certain policies are required under the Libraries Act. Use the required and recommended policies checklist to see if you have all the policies you need.
Parkland Regional Library has created policies for our service points: we encourage our libraries to use these as a guide in developing your own policies.
- Confidentiality of user records
- Orientation and continuing education of board and staff
- Finance
- Personnel
- Selection, acquisition and disposition of materials
- Resource sharing
- Provision for those unable to use conventional print
- Hours of service
- Library facilities
- Internet access and use
- Waiving of fines
- Bylaws
Parkland Regional Library has developed a Request for Reconsideration of Library Material Procedure and a Request for Reconsideration of Library Material Form that can be adapted to meet the needs of any library.
