Literary Cafe with Kimmy Beach
Parkland Regional Library is pleased to announce Literary Cafe with Kimmy Beach, our Writer in Residence program for 2012! We are thrilled that Kimmy Beach, Parkland’s previous Writer in Residence for the Check Out the Writer program, will be our Writer in Residence once again.
Kimmy Beach will be offering workshops and manuscript consultations at libraries across the Parkland region from January 10 to April 10, 2012. The workshops will be free of charge to all attendees.
A limited number of slots were also available for patrons to send in manuscript excerpts for comments from Kimmy; however, these slots are now full.

- Build or Fine-tune Your Writing Group
- Conversations in Cars (discussion of in Cars, by Kimmy Beach)
- Introductory Writing Workshop
- One-on-One Manuscript Consultation (30 minutes per participant)

- What Should I Read to be a Better Writer?

About Kimmy Beach: Kimmy is the author of four collections of poetry from Turnstone Press. Her second book, Alarum Within: theatre poems, has twice been adapted for the stage and was longlisted for the ReLit Award. She was the International Guest Poet for the Dead Good Poets Society in Liverpool, UK, and launched her third book, fake Paul, onstage at the Cavern Club in Mathew Street. Kimmy holds a First Class Honors Degree in English from the University of Alberta, and has served on many granting and book juries, including the Governor General's Award for Poetry. Before turning to writing, Kimmy spent several years as Production Stage Manager for the Theatre Studies Program at Red Deer College. Kimmy is working on two collections of poems, a mixed-genre book about James Bond, a collaborative young adult novel, and a travel memoir about the Greek Island of Crete.
