December 1st, 2009kgoodwillieThe 2010 Canada Reads books were announced on December 1. Canada Reads celebrates five Canadian books for three months online, on the air and at public events. It all leads up to a week-long show hosted by Jian Ghomeshi. In this annual title fight, five celebrity panelists defend their favourite work of Canadian fiction. One by one, books are voted off the list, until one panelist triumphs with the book for Canada to read this year. The winning title will be announced nationally on Friday, March 12, 2010.

Alberta Readers' Choice Awards
November 30th, 2009kgoodwillieThe first phase of selection in the Alberta Readers' Choice Awards is now complete. Nominations from libraries around Alberta have chosen the top ten Albertan books. During phase two a panel of jurors will narrow the field down to the top five finalists. The final phase will start in February, when a public vote will decide which of the finalists will win the award. Find out more at their website.

Interactive English – Volume 1 is an interactive resource for teaching English as a second language (ESL). Language instruction is imbedded into real-life scenarios, such as finding a job or visiting a doctor, and set within a Canadian cultural context.
