eAudiobook Facts

  • To download or play eAudiobooks on your desktop or laptop, you need one of the following:

    Once you've downloaded eAudiobook files to your desktop or laptop, you can transfer them to a portable audio device. Apple iPhone and iPod users will also need to install iTunes in order to transfer eAudiobooks to their portable devices.

  • The NetLibrary Media Center combines a visual user interface with streamlined navigation to create a unique user experience. With a single click, the Media Center will check-out an eAudiobook, acquire the user license, and download the title to your PC or portable device. It's that easy.
  • You can download radio-quality or CD-quality eAudiobook files. CD quality offers high-fidelity playback for patrons with high-speed Internet access. For users with dial-up connections, NetLibrary also offers a radio-quality download option that provides smaller file sizes and faster download times for desktop use.
  • Download times vary. Check the chart for estimated times.
  • NetLibrary eAudiobooks are available in Windows Media Audio (WMA) and MP3 file formats. MP3 files can be downloaded and played on most portable players including devices from Apple, Creative, Samsung and other manufacturers. WMA files can only be played on devices that support Secure WMA playback. Check to see which portable listening devices are currently supported.
  • Audiobooks are not divided into chapters. There are 3 ways to “save your place” when listening is interrupted:
    1. use the bookmark feature (if your portable device has bookmarking capability).
    2. use the off/on resume feature on many MP3 players.
    3. note the elapsed minute on your MP3 screen and fast-forward to that point when you resume listening.
  • Your eAudiobook will work for 3 weeks and then stop working unless it is renewed online, as you would a book from the library.
  • You can have access to 10 eAudiobooks at a time.
  • eAudiobook files cannot be burned to a CD.
  • There is a wide selection of current, popular, and classic titles, with more titles being added each month.
